Phoenix Silk Fly Line
Double Taper

The Standard Line – Trout is a 30 yard line available in Natural straw, or Mere Green colour. Double tapered with fine tips and a precise 6 foot taper at both ends to allow reversal of the line. Made of the finest pure silk, natural straw colour, proofed with several coats of a special varnish and hand polished. The line comes complete with care instructions and a tin of Red Mucilin.
Properly cared for these silk fly lines will easily outlast many PVC fly lines; thus making them a better tackle investment. Some of the numerous benefits of silk lines are, they do not stretch or crack, Being thinner that normal PVC lines there is less wind resistance, and so are easier to cast in to the wind which in turn leads to a more delicate presentation. They are all double tapered (D.T.) and classified according to the A.F.T.M.A. scale.
All Phoenix lines are hand crafted with meticulous care, all lines are fully finished and ready for use (No breaking in). They are create less disturbance on the water!

Ultimately a silk fly line gives you three options in one line
    * Greased, the line floats high on the surface film.
    * Un-greased it acts as a ‘slow sinker’.
    * De-grease the tip and there is a ‘sink-tip’ of variable proportions.

We have a stock Phoenix silk lines in various weight lines which are available from AFTMA 1 through to AFTMA 6
All Standard DT Trout lines are a standard length of 30 yards and these are ideal for all fishing techniques on lakes and rivers.

Advice for dressing the lines:
    * Apply a thin even coating of Mucillin. Wipe of any excess.
    * Dry the line after fishing
    * Never apply Mucillin to a wet line.
    * At the end of every season wash the line a bowl of warm soapy water and allow to dry thoroughly.

This kind of alternation will give the best flotation and the wear and tear will be uniform.
Do not wash using detergents, do not use linseed oil or any other product; do not dry in front of heaters etc.
