The Winter Brown is a very old Yorkshire fly pattern dating back to Swarbrick's list of 1807 and possibly even further back in time.
The Winter Brown is mentioned in both Pritt's and Edmonds & Lee's books and is still a favourite pattern found in many North Country anglers fly box. Traditionally dressed with either just an orange silk body or occasionally dubbed with ruddy brown coloured wool.
