A relative of the Dark Needle and the Needle Brown, the Light Spanish Needle is a standard North Country trout pattern, and is a favourite on the River Wharfe, Ure and Aire, first mentioned by Swarbrick in 1807. The Light Spanish Needle is best fished on the warm days of the season; the Large Spanish Needle is a great fly to imitate Willow Flies and small needle flies and often pulls up trout when they will look at no other fly on the water.
